Finnmarkslopet
Finnmarksløpet is the world's northern most sled dog race. Hosted by Alta Sled Dog Club, its two classes the 8 and 14 dog, start and finish in Alta, Norway and cover 500 and 1000km respectively completely within the Arctic Circle. Held in the middle of March each year, it has been one of the world's premier long distance races for over 3 decades.

Femundlopet
Femundløpet is a long distance sleddog race that takes place in mid-Norway. Hosting the World Championship's first LD event in 2011, the race starts and finished in Roros. Its 2 classes the 8 and 12 dog, cover 400 and 600km respectively, winding through woods & traversing mountains. Held at the beginning of February each year, temperatures can drop to -50.

La Grande Odyssee
La Grande Odyssee Savoie Mont Blanc is a stage race that takes place over 12 days in France and Switzerland. 25 mushers compete with a pool of 14 dogs each. Gausdal Marathon
Gausdal Marathon is a mid distance race that takes place in mid-Norway. It attracts some of the best LD mushers as an early season race to test their dogs in either the limited 8 dog or the open class. A total of 200km, the race runs 100km into the mountains, where dogs and mushers rest for 5 hours before embarking on the return journey.
