EULOGY
My best girl Zhara. The top dog in the pack from the moment she arrived, even old age and younger dominant dogs, didn't stop Zhara from defending her title and like all great leaders she had many war wounds to display her bravery. Zhara was an experienced lead dog and taught me more about sled dogs than any book or person could ever have. She was a super lead dog, reliable, always anticipating, sensing and avoiding danger, looking after musher & team and her built in compass led us home after many exploration adventures. Zhara was a brave soldier, always fighting for what she wanted and although she loved attention, she was very proud and highly independent. Having lost all her teeth, refusing to eat, a tumor in her brain and loosing her friend Valor, Zhara like always led the way and let us know it was time, so trying to be brave like Zhara, we let her die with the dignity and honor she diserved. Thank you for the great adventures Zhara, we are lost without you.
BIOGRAPHY
Zhara is a natural leader. Exceptional at commands, never missing a beat. Although now slowing down, she will drive the team through any conditions, storms, overflow or cutting trail in deep snow. She is confident, friendly and loves her tummy rubbed. Zhara is the yard Police Officer, always keeping the games in order. Although she is fairly dominant she knows who the boss is and will do anything to please. She is an excellent teacher with lots of patience and is happy to run anywhere on the team. She has been one of the main puppy teachers for our next generation, teaching them about drive, leading and her unique balance of work and fun. Even in old age she is still constantly on the go. She has competed in numerous races, being Mel's first leader and teacher. She has looked after many friends, handlers and tourists on their first sled dog experience, both on wheels and sled. Zhara took to running on snow, like she'd been waiting to do it her whole life, ploughing through deep snow, finding ice cracks & crossing mountains with amazing natural instinct. An enthusiastic husky in the UK, she's turned into a possessed sled dog in Norway, the more snow & the colder the better!
